- Burnet Road carries MetroRapid service south toward the core; for us, though, the practical route is Shoal Creek or Burnet down to 45th and across. The Shoal Creek Greenbelt also runs most of the way if you'd rather ride it.

Allandale: older than it looks
Allandale wears its leafy, ranch-house calm so well that you’d never guess how far back the land goes. The story starts in 1841, when George W. Davis was granted this stretch by Mirabeau B. Lamar, president of the Republic of Texas, for his service at the Battle of San Jacinto — and the Davis family cemetery, now a Texas Historical Cemetery, is still tucked into the neighborhood. The Allandale you know took shape a century later, platted from 1946 by W. Murray Graham, the man they called the “dean of the Austin real estate profession.”
A quarry, a greenbelt, and a burger joint with a film credit
Here’s the good one: Beverly S. Sheffield Northwest District Park, in the heart of Allandale, started life as a limestone quarry — and that limestone helped build the 1853 Texas Capitol. Today it’s where neighbors swim laps off a genuine high dive. Just beyond it, the Shoal Creek Greenbelt runs miles of shaded trail south. And out on Burnet, Top Notch has been flame-grilling since 1971, with a cameo in Dazed and Confused to prove Crestview and Allandale were cool before it was a bumper sticker.
Ten minutes, and the greenbelt does most of it
Eye Charm is at 4000 Avenue B — 3.9 miles from Northwest District Park, about ten minutes south on Shoal Creek or Burnet and across on 45th. That’s the longest of our in-town trips and it’s still under fifteen minutes.
The better version: the Shoal Creek Greenbelt runs most of the way, so this is one of the few areas where the bike ride is genuinely nicer than the drive — twenty to twenty-five minutes. Free street parking either way. Open seven days, 10am–6pm; book on the booking page.

How do I get to the studio from Allandale?

Can I ride there instead?
The Shoal Creek Greenbelt runs most of the way south, which makes this a pleasant ride rather than a Burnet Road one. Figure twenty to twenty-five minutes on a bike.
What's the low-maintenance option?
A keratin lash lift — it curls your own lashes for six to eight weeks and has no fills at all, so it's the pick if you're out on the greenbelt most mornings and would rather not think about upkeep.
Do you use pre-made volume fans?
Never. Every fan is made by hand at the chair during your appointment, which takes longer and is a large part of why retention holds up between fills.
