First-Time Eyelash Extensions: What to Expect
May 30, 2026 · By Anastasiia
For your first eyelash extension appointment, expect a short consultation, then about 2–3 hours lying down comfortably with your eyes closed while we apply one extension per lash. It’s relaxing — most first-timers nap. We recommend starting with a classic set ($150) for a natural, mascara-like look that’s easy to love and easy to maintain.
Step 1: Your consultation
Every visit — including your first — starts with a consultation. We look at your natural lashes and eye shape, talk through the look you want, and recommend a style and curl. This is also when you tell us about sensitivities or contact lenses. No pressure, no guesswork: we map the set that flatters your eyes.
Step 2: Mapping to your eye shape
Before any extension goes on, we map the set — planning lengths across the eye to enhance your shape (lifting, rounding, or elongating). This customized mapping is what makes a set look designed for you rather than one-size-fits-all.
Step 3: The application
You’ll lie back, close your eyes, and relax. Your lower lashes are gently taped away, and we apply each extension to an isolated single natural lash. A full classic set takes roughly 2–3 hours. It’s painless — many clients fall asleep.
Why classic is the best first set
- Technique: one extension per natural lash.
- Look: natural, defined, mascara-like.
- Price: $150 for a classic full set.
- Best for: first-timers, everyday wear.
Classic is the lightest, most natural style — the perfect introduction. Curious how it compares? See classic vs hybrid vs volume. You can always step up to hybrid or handmade volume later.
After your set
To keep them full, you’ll cleanse daily, brush gently, avoid oil, and skip rubbing, then return for a fill every 14–28 days. Before you come in, read how to prepare so you arrive makeup-free and ready.
Ready for your first set? Our classic lashes studio is in Hyde Park, Austin, open 7 days a week, 10am–6pm. Book your appointment and we’ll walk you through every step.
